Mark Lottor - CubatronMark will talk about the Cubatron, a computer controlled 3D RGB LED lighting display, including some info on the hardware and software used.Mark has been working with RGB LED lighting displays for almost 10 years. Previously he worked on Internet technologies and cellular phones. Joe Grand - BSODomizer: Mischievous Hardware for Mischievous PeopleBSODomizer is a small, battery-powered, open-source, Parallax Propeller-based electronic device that interfaces between a laptop or desktop and VGA monitor and flashes a fake BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) onto the monitor at random time intervals or when triggered by an infrared remote control. This will cause the user to become confused and turn off or reset his or her machine. The BSODomizer will automatically detect when this event occurs and will revert to the harmless video pass-through mode, leaving the user unaware of any wrongdoing. Customization for different modes are configurable via on-board DIP switches. This presentation goes through the entire design and development process of the device and ends with hilarious footage of a poor bastard taking the bait. Full schematics, firmware, circuit board layout, and bill-of-materials are available. Just in time for April 1st, BSODomizer units will be available for sale at dorkbot for $60. $10 of each purchase will go to the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and the remainder barely covers costs. Don't let the name fool you. BSODomizer will do everything you've always wanted to do to your enemies (or friends) without the messy cleanup. Joe Grand is an electrical engineer, hardware hacker, runner, daddy, and washed-up TV host.
